Currently I am working with my wonderfully talented partner Heather Robertson to as a house lounge act at the City Mills Hotel in Perth. We perform every second Friday (with the odd exception) and are known as "Collins & Johnson".
I have also performed with male vocal group "Figarogues" which I co-founded alongside Ian Grieve, Mark Beveridge and Kevin Philip. As well as performing, I acted as arranger for the group, occasionally creating original backing tracks.
As a singer, I have also performed in many other concerts and charity events performing favourite pieces of musical theatre and operetta. Due to the nature of my studies at University, I have developed a somewhat substantial solo repertoire, including German & English art song (such as Schubert’s 'Der Erlkönig', Schumman’s 'Dichterliebe', and Vaughn-Williams’ 'Songs of Travel'), as well as many operatic & oratorio favourites (Rossini’s 'Largo al factotum' [from Il Barbiere di Siviglia], Verdi’s 'Eri tu' [from Un Ballo in Maschera], Handel’s 'The Trumpet Shall Sound' [from Messiah]). I enjoys a challenge, and among the highlights of my vocal career is a one-off ‘staged opera scenes’ concert in which I performed alongside Donald Maxwell, Linda Ormiston and Ian Paton. Another highlight was as the Count in a complete performance in Italian (with English recitative) of Mozart's Le nozze di Figaro: my first operatic role.
During the course of my theatre experience, I have also taken on administrative roles, acting as President of P.A.O.S. for the 2011/12 run of Sweeney Todd, Vice President of AU G&S for their production of Princess Ida and other committee posts for these two societies.
